One ofAsia's oldest known styles is back. Han Chinese clothing, silk outfits richwith Chinese embroidery and designs are seeing a "comeback" amongsome of the nation's youngest people. On the streets, the subway, or in a parkoverseas, you may find Chinese youngsters wearing these traditional clothesthat have hardly been seen in the last millennium. CGTN's Li Jianhua talks tosome Han Chinese clothing lovers.
A bitanachronistic. These two girls – wearing traditional Han Chinese clothing, popular thousands of years ago – are drinking tea in 21st-century China. Silkclothing with Chinese embroidery complete with archaic headwear. It may look abit costume-ish, but it's becoming everyday trend for an increasing number ofyoung Chinese.
JIANG YUEHAN CHINESE CLOTHING FAN "Ever since I was a kid, many have been sayingI'm stuck in the past – my habits, my manners, and my thoughts are all sort ofanachronistic. I myself don't know why. Maybe it's my fate."
CHEN LINHAN CHINESE CLOTHING FAN "I appreciate my family's support. They don'treject the idea of me wearing the type of clothing many others do. I should saythey don't agree with it 100 percent, but they don't reject it outright or sayit's bizarre."

CAI JINBAOPRESIDENT, XIAMEN HANFU CULTURE EXCHANGE ASSOCIATION "This one is veryconvenient and it suits you. The right lapel is placed on top of the left one. This one uses a lace to fasten the clothing instead of buttons. The sleeves aresmaller – very convenient. For any kind of clothing – Han Chinese and others –people are likely to be attracted to the appearance. But for Han Chinese clothing, the culture beyond its looks and designs is also fascinating and deservesstudy."

CAI JINBAOPRESIDENT, XIAMEN HANFU CULTURE EXCHANGE ASSOCIATION "40 years of Reformand Opening up has enabled most Chinese to enjoy a moderately prosperous life, which in turn lets more of us pursue spiritual fulfilment. Chinese people usedto be into the so-called 'good lives' of the West. But the comeback oftraditional Han Chinese culture is a demonstration of Chinese people pursuing asense of belonging culturally."
Cai saysthe problem now is many don't know the culture behind the clothing, hence theywear some clothes that don't suit their status. Some business professionals arealso making use of the trend by renting and selling these clothes in bulk.Whether the Han Chinese clothing is simply a flash in the pan or an officialcomeback remains to be seen.
